Hello, I’m Su, the founder of Wayward Rose near Fakenham, Norfolk.
In A Nutshell
I design and make all the Wayward Rose authentic quality products. In addition my Blog offers inspirational articles and other snippets I think you might find interesting; be it favourite places, inspiring products, projects or other websites.
In The Beginning
Having made the obligatory apron, skirt and shirt during those seemingly boring needlework classes at school, my sewing machine disappeared into a cupboard, but having beautiful dresses made by my mother when I was little, it must have been in the genes. When we bought our first house the sewing machine came out again, and I started to make my own homewares. This stayed a personal hobby while my family grew to adulthood, and then with my husband moved to rural Norfolk.
I knew I could use the beautiful fabrics I found to make and sell a small range of items. Starting with shoppers and cushions, I gradually grew my range, which now includes pouches, purses, baskets, lavender/rose bags, sectioned rolls, and decorative gifts.
I have sourced the fabrics I use from other small companies. The beautiful soft patterned ones from England, tweeds from Harris, plain linens from France and Lithuania. The vintage fabrics are mainly French, which I have great fun finding.
It is wonderful to have a following of loyal customers as well as making new friends, and also to enjoy working with other like-minded businesses such as the designers of the fabrics, organisers of fairs, and my web developers in Norfolk and the designers of this beautiful site working from their stunning office near the North Coast.
